What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?

Technically, there is no difference. JPG was created because early Windows systems required 3-letter file extensions. Both extensions refer to the identical JPEG format.

Why convert HEIC to JPEG instead of JPG?

Will HEIC to JPEG conversion reduce quality?
